The spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Joaquín López Pagán and the deputy speaker Alfonso Martínez Baños have held a working meeting today with the mayor of Beniel, Mari Carmen Morales, to address and learn about the main issues and needs that affect this municipality and that the regional government does not solve.
The Socialist spokesman claimed the need to improve the infrastructure of this municipality, with the construction of a variant in a ring road that gives access to this population, which daily travel many heavy vehicles that go to the companies based there.
"We are talking about a historic demand, to improve the mobility and road safety of the municipality, to which the regional government has not paid attention, despite its importance."
Lopez Pagán stressed that the Executive of Lopez Miras has abandoned the municipalities of the region and instead of meeting their needs "is engaged in opposition to the Government of the Nation, demanding that he immediately do the projects that Rajoy did not do in seven years".
The Regional Assembly already spoke recently about the need for this variant, an initiative that was approved unanimously.
"We demand that López Miras focus on the Region of Murcia, which serves the municipalities and deals with the problems they have and that are within their competence, as is the case of Beniel, and start up in the next budgets the starting to make the project of this variant as soon as possible, as its neighbors deserve ".
Need for better communications
For its part, the mayor, Mari Camen Morales explained the serious problems that this town has at the level of communications.
"We have a very important industrial fabric in Beniel, which is scattered throughout the municipality, so we need adequate infrastructure to speed up traffic and entry to the companies located here."
Morales added that the City Council signed an agreement in 2003 with the Community for the bypass project, which has been appearing in successive regional budgets from 2003 to 2005, "year that disappeared and never heard again."
The mayor stressed that "it is a historical necessity and a unanimous request that the municipality of Beniel makes to the regional government, to improve our situation and be more competitive," he concluded.
