Completion of the works of the II Participatory Budgets (18/02/2019)

Following the call with the Motor Group, the list of works carried out after the € 50,000 investment made by the Beniel City Council for the II Participatory Budgets was made public.

This total was destined for those projects that were voted mostly by the citizens through an open and democratic process;

the neighborhood assemblies.

During four days these participatory meetings were being held in Beniel, in El Raiguero-La Villa, in El Mojón and in La Basca / La Huerta.

The initiatives that came to this meeting were proposed by the Motor Group, a team of residents of the municipality interested and involved in the participation project and to which anyone can sign up.

Beniel

Of these funds a total of € 23,350 have been earmarked for improvements in Beniel.

Those attending the neighborhood assembly held on November 20, 2017 at the Social Center decided with their votes the proposals that were to be made.

In this way, "Continue with the remodeling of the Miguel Ángel Blanco Park and" Improve the lighting in Parque Miguel Ángel Blanco and Plaza Ramón y Cajal "obtained the support of the largest number of neighbors, these initiatives are already completed. both places with the implementation of led bulbs, which will also mean a long-term savings for the coffers of the municipality, as well as the play area of ​​the Miguel Ángel Blanco park has been completely remodeled with new foam rubber coating.

Of the proposals developed by the Motor Group, "Enabling a canine park in the station area" also obtained some support, even without being a majority.

Thanks to the last budget modification approved by the City Council of Beniel, this initiative has been able to be promoted and the dog park will open its doors in the coming weeks.

This is possible thanks to the fact that the Beniel City Council takes into account all the contributions of the neighbors who attend the assemblies, resulting then the most voted or not.

It should also be noted that these meetings also serve to allow all residents to express their concerns or needs.

In fact, one of the proposals that was going to be taken into consideration for the next participatory budgets, "improve access to Camino Azalea", has already been executed after having made a new asphalt.

Also the initiative "change the type of sidewalk in C / Doctor Marañón" has been possible thanks to the last budgetary amendment approved by the City Council of Beniel.

The Raiguero-La Villa

For the hamlet of El Raiguero-La Villa € 8,000 has been allocated for improvements.

Those attending the neighborhood assembly held on November 21, 2017 at the School of Villa decided with their votes the proposals that were to be made.

Thus, "Continue with the preparation of the Municipal School of the Villa" and "Conditioning Rosales Street" obtained the support of the largest number of neighbors.

These initiatives have already been executed.

Calle Rosales has been completely paved while the Municipal School of the Villa has also been upgraded, with the installation of new blinds, sanitation, interior lighting and a new coat of paint.

The mojon

For the hamlet of El Mojón, € 7,700 has been allocated for improvements.

Attendees to the neighborhood assembly held on November 22 last year in the Social Center of El Mojón decided that these funds were invested in the "conditioning of the soil of Municipal Schools" and in the "Replenishment of organic waste and recycling containers" .

Both actions have already been executed.

One of the proposals that was not a majority "Increase public furniture" has also been answered by the City Council with the installation of five new Fernandina street lamps in the church square.

Also highlight the installation of a traffic light in a crossing area that replaces a shoulder that could lead to accumulations of water.

The Basca / La Huerta

For the La Basca / La Huerta zone, € 10,350 has been allocated for improvements.

Those attending the neighborhood assembly held on November 23 last year at the Colegio Antonio Monzón decided with their votes that the proposals that were to be made were the "conditioning of the river railing" and "increase public furniture."

Both actions have been carried out, in addition to improving access to this area through Virgen de la Medalla street.

In this way the citizens have decided through an open and democratic process which are the interventions that best respond to the existing needs of each of the territorial nuclei.

Furthermore, it is demonstrated that all the deficiencies or needs that the neighbors exhibit in the neighborhood assemblies are taken into account by the municipality, even though they are not the majority voted.
