"The opposition votes against the approval of the budget and paralyzes the investments for Beniel" (01/03/2019)

A new item was collected to aid schooling and increased the investment by € 163,000 with respect to 2018

The opposition voted against the approval of the 2019 budget yesterday.

In an extraordinary session, the suitability of these new accounts for the town was discussed yesterday.

The government team defended at all times before the opposition the need to approve the new budget so that residents could benefit from the increase collected in various municipal services.

These new accounts collected for Beniel an increase of income and expenses of € 298,000 with respect to 2018, with the investment chapter being one of the most important.

Mari Carmen Morales, mayor of the municipality, defended that through the investment chapter could be continued the adequacy of the different bracelets of the garden, with € 70,000 expected for this year.

"This is a vindication of the neighbors of the area, who have been able to see how since the beginning of this term the administration has had an answer".

With this last investment the adaptation of the sidewalks of the bracers would be completely finished.

For this 2019 the investments in Participatory Budgets were still maintained with an amount of € 50,000 so that the residents of Beniel could continue to decide in which to spend this total in a collaborative and transparent manner.

This item also included a fund of € 40,000 for the adaptation of the South Urbanization promenade, an essential remodeling for the residents of the area to have better infrastructures.

The Municipal Archive had at the same time an investment of € 6,000 so that, according to the mayor defended, "we can continue to know more about our history and we can keep it within the reach of all neighbors."

Within the chapter on current transfers, a new item called "aid escolarización" was created to support families in the purchase of school supplies.

The total expenditure would have risen to € 6,000 to respond to the needs of the students.

The accounts maintained a total of € 50,000 to carry out the III Participatory Proposals

The current expenditure item would have also increased by more than € 93,000.

These funds were distributed taking into account the needs of different services of the municipality.

In this way the mayor stressed the increase of € 7,000 for the maintenance of schools, which would add a total of € 25,000.

"As long as the CARM is in profile, the City Council will continue responding to the demands of the educational centers," Morales argued to justify that departure.

As for the funds linked to the services of the mixed company Sermubeniel, they increased by € 25,000 in order to continue improving the quality of street cleaning.

The budget also included the increase of € 60,000 as a result of the expansion of the solid waste collection service every day of the week.

These accounts included a decrease in expenses associated with various areas.

The first one is the one corresponding to bank interest and loans, which after a responsible management has decreased by almost € 100,000.

This is possible thanks to the early amortization that has been carried out in the past year.

It should also be noted that the commitment to reduce energy costs would have already been noted in these budgets.

The electricity output of public lighting fell by € 13,000, a very prudent estimate.

The mayor had stressed that "this figure will decrease more throughout the year once completed the work of replacing LED bulbs in different areas of the municipality."

It was collected an investment of € 70,000 to continue with the adaptation of the Brazales de la huerta

Morales concluded yesterday his speech giving an account of the amount of municipal debt, which has been able to highlight that since his arrival at the Consistory as the first mayor have been amortized more than three million debt and has not generated a penny of it, being a reference at the regional level in the average period of payment to suppliers.

Before closing the plenary the mayor said to both groups "with this vote against you are not blocking the government team, they are blocking our people and our neighbors.

Explain to them because they have opposed investments so necessary for Beniel. "
