The Beniel City Council begins next Monday a campaign to protect and raise awareness of the safety of pedestrians, installing mobile radars on different roads in the urban area orchard and districts.
In addition, a study will be carried out on the speed of movement of vehicles within the municipality, in order to improve road safety. The mobile radars will be installed in different locations, specifically in a total of 11 roads throughout the municipality, which have been established within the framework of this device.
Information signs have been installed on all susceptible roads.
Some of these roads are Avenida Juan Pablo II, Avenida Calvo Sotelo, Vereda de la Basca or the Brazal de Álamos. The criteria for deciding these locations combine the data derived from the accident rate analysis, the detection of speeding by the Local Police and the neighborhood demands. The Local Police recall the importance of respecting the established speed limits and the need to adapt driving to the safety conditions of the road.
These controls are intended to increase pedestrian safety and awareness of this problem.
Those excesses of speed detected will be sanctioned, within the established legal margins. The data obtained in these controls will be collected in a report that will allow the analysis and proposal of other complementary measures to improve traffic and increase pedestrian safety.
