The University of Murcia and the City Council of Beniel have signed this Wednesday the agreement creating the Permanent Headquarters of University Extension of the University of Murcia in the municipality, a headquarters that was created with the aim of organizing cultural, sports and transfer activities of knowledge of different fields in the locality. The rector of the UMU, José Luján, and the mayor of Beniel, MŞ Carmen Morales, have been in charge of signing the agreement by which the permanent headquarters number 34 of the academic institution will be launched. Luján has insisted on the mission that the University has to reach out to all the municipalities of the Region, bringing the knowledge and activity generated in the academic institution to all citizens. For her part, the mayor has been very satisfied with this agreement "by which we get Beniel to stop turning his back on the University" and which will allow the entire population to enjoy the knowledge generated by the activities that are organized. Pedro Luis Valero Guillén, professor of the Department of Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Murcia, will be the director of the Permanent Headquarters of University Extension in Beniel.
