Beniel receives 108,000 euros for road and sidewalk renewal of the Works and Services Plan (POS) of 2017, which the Community carries out through the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
This was pointed today by the Minister of Finance, Andrés Carrillo, who visited the works of the projects in the town.
Andrés Carrillo stressed that the novelty this year is that "the plan has a biennial character so that the municipalities can carry out works of greater scope and importance".
In this way, for the 2018/2019 biennium, the Community will allocate a total of 227,000 euros for the POS of Beniel, at a rate of 113,500 euros per annuity.
In this sense, the counselor noted that "thanks to the biennial nature of the plan, the municipalities will be able to reinvest that economic surplus resulting from the difference between the tender and the awarding of the works in other projects that are interesting for the locality".
It is precisely the case of the projects of the Plan of Works and Services of 2017 that are being executed in Beniel, which include the partial replacement of cobblestone by asphalt in Antonio Gala street and Rosario street, and the replacement of sidewalks in the armband from La Raja.
The works had an initial budget of 119,945 euros, of which 113,948 euros were assumed by the Community and 5,997 euros by the City Council.
However, thanks to the reduction in the award, the final cost was 107,932 euros, which the Community paid for in full, with a surplus of 6,000 euros.
"As of this year that money will be used with complementary projects," said the counselor.
In addition, Carrillo also referred to the Plan of Works and Services of 2016 that involves the replacement of sidewalks in Camino de las Palmeras and Vereda de la Basca, which has an investment of 122,483 euros, of which 95,790 euros are financed by the Community and 26,693 the Consistory.
The counselor indicated that the object of the Plan of Works and Services is "to increase the infrastructures and basic equipments in the municipalities of the Region with population less than 50,000 inhabitants" and added that "it is one of the evident reflections of the municipalist vocation of this Government "
Works in 41 municipalities
The Works and Services Plan for 2018/2019 will reach the 41 municipalities of the Region of less than 50,000 inhabitants.
This initiative includes more 6 million euros per year that are borne by the Autonomous Community, "which benefits an estimated population of more than 550,000 people."
Among the main actions include works such as improvement in streets and sidewalks, renovation of public lighting, works in parks, replacement of services and works in municipal facilities.
